WASHINGTON Arubi has revealed that coach Gavin Hunt was charmed by the shot stopper's leadership qualities in luring him to SuperSport United.
Arubi rejoined the top South African club last week after parting ways with Marumo Gallants where he spent two seasons.
He snubbed Sekhukhune United, opting for the perennial DStv Premiership campaigners.
According to the 37-year-old, Hunt lured him to guide the relatively young SuperSport United outfit.
Last season, Arubi was the captain for Marumo Gallants where they hit good strides in the Caf Confederations Cup, to reach the semi-finals.
It was not the same script in the league, as they went on to be relegated. However, it is his impressive leadership qualities which pushed SuperSport to sign him on a one-year contract.
“He wants me to lead because we have youngesters in the team.He wants me to push the goalkeeping department,” the former Dynamos number one said.
“He has been following me in and outside the field and he was impressed by how I have been doing it on my own.

“I don't know how far, I'm gonna go. As long as my body is still responding, I'll keep going.
“For I'm thinking about what we are doing at the club through the season at SuperSport United to achieve.
“To be honest, SuperSport is my other home. I was here for two years, I was happy even though I didn't play a single game.
“But the way they took care of us is what I enjoyed. I left, and I told them that I wanted to get some game time and I got it."
He said he is ready to fight for the first team jersey against Ricardo Goss who has been the preferred first choice.
“They saw what I was doing, and they called me back. It’s not going to be different because Goss (Ricardo) is a good goalkeeper, he is a national team goalkeeper.
“Both of us will just have to keep pushing. It doesn't matter who plays but whoever does must be supported.
“We will push him to help the team achieve. We are not putting ourselves under any pressure at this point,” he added.
He linked up with Ronald Pfumbidzai, George Chigova and Onisimor Bhasera at the club.
