Herentals claim first win, Sheasham draw again

This is Sheasham's third draw on the trot as a win remains elusive.

Winger Tafadzwa Jimu was yet again the star for Harare side Herentals after he rose from the bench to score the goal that handed the club its first win of the season.

Jimu rose from the bench last week and scored a brace that rescued a point for the team and yesterday he bagged his fourth goal of the season to top the goal-scoring chart.

Herentals, who had recorded three draws and one defeat going into the weekend matches, took an early lead through Godfrey Mukambi before Moses Demera drew the visitors level about 10 minutes before half time.

Herentals coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva was relieved by the team's win.

"It gives us a great feeling as a team, especially in the restoration of confidence. We had not had a winning performance and that on its own was affecting the team and now the pressure is off. I would say it was a performance based on results and we managed to get that result," Mutiwekuziva said.

A balanced first half saw Milton Chimedza and Tinotenda Chiunye miss chances for Herentals and ZPC Kariba respectively earlier on and the two teams went to the break one goal apiece.

Super sub Jimu scored the winner with possibly his first touch after replacing Innocent Benza at the start of the second half.

The hosts frustrated ZPC Kariba by slowing down the match for the rest of the game.

ZPC Kariba coach Darlington Dodo bemoaned delaying tactics employed by the opposition.

"How do you play the second half of 45 minutes and play for about 20 minutes? The remaining 25 minutes players are all over the pitch sleeping, lying on the ground? It's sad. How do we bring back paying spectators with such football," he fumed

At Mandava, Sheasham put up a lethargic performance again as they were held to a 1-1 draw by fellow newcomers Green Fuel.

Both goals scored in the second half, with Tinaye Tsimba scoring for Sheasham, his second goal of the season.

Nqobile Ndlovu equalised for Greenfuel in the last 15 minutes when they were on top of the situation.

This is Sheasham's third draw on the trot as a win remains elusive. Green Fuel are also winless in five attempts.

Sheasham coach John Nyikadzino was reserved in his comments, though satisfied with the point.

"We deserved maximum points since we were at home and judging by how we performed,” he said

Green Fuel coach Bekithemba Ndlovu was happy with his team's fighting spirit.

"We fought back after conceding first. Thanks to that goal by Nqobile Ndlovu. We need to start winning.

"The fighting spirit shown by the team gives us hope that we will start winning soon." he said.

In another match at Gibbo Stadium, Ngezi Platinum Stars earned their first win of the season after beating Manica Diamonds 1-0 courtesy of a Qadr Amini first half goal.
