Trio returns to boost Chiefs

Thulani Sibanda

THREE senior Bulawayo Chiefs players, who missed weeks of training amid a fallout with the club management over unpaid salaries are back as they prepare to face Caps United in a league match at the National Sports Stadium in Harare tomorrow.

Chiefs’ coach Thulani Sibanda confirmed that Kelvin Madzongwe and the Moyo twins Kevin and Elvis were available for tomorrow’s game, saying their return was a big boost for the team ahead of the Chibuku Super Cup final against Herentals on November 19 at Barbourfields Stadium.

Sibanda declined to discuss issues to do with finances, but said the trio could feature against the Green Machine.

“Everything is normal; we have prepared well for Caps United. We know we are playing a very tough game against a seasoned team, with a seasoned coach and seasoned players, but we are preparing very well with the exception of guys who are out because of injuries and suspensions; otherwise everybody else is available,” Sibanda said.

He added: “Kelvin Madzongwe and the Moyo twins are with us. We trained well with almost a full squad with the exception of Lucky Ndlela because he is ill. Felix Moyo sustained a rib injury in the Herentals game, and McClive Phiri is not with us because of the death of Caesar Dube (the Bosso 90 player who died on Sunday), who was a close relative of McClive. Only those three are out, but the rest of the players are available. We are excited to have those three back, they are senior guys, practically good and good motivators. We will be a better team with them around.”

Chiefs will be hoping to collect maximum points against Caps United who are still in the relegation matrix.
