Terroso says happy with team performance

BULAWAYO Chiefs coach Nilton Terroso  says he is satisfied with the team’s performance and is not under pressure to achieve a top-eight finish with five games remaining before the season ends.

Chiefs beat relegation-bound WhaWha 2-0 on Saturday and they moved to eighth place on the log standings with 42 points on their tally.

Asked about his season’s targets going into the last five games, Terroso played down top-eight talk, saying his eyes are set on next season.

“I can’t talk about targets really, but we are taking game by game. It’s the same for us,’ he said.

“We have been outstanding and that is what makes me happy at the moment. I’m satisfied with the team and everyone, the way they apply themselves against every opponent.

“We win this and we have to win the next but for the last five games we have to win each, taking the three points at stake.

“Of course, we have a cup game in-between but the target is winning and see how it ends for us.”

Chiefs made wholesale changes at the start of the season, signing the likes of Kelvin Madzongwe and Obriel Chirinda, but they have struggled for consistency.

Terreso will, however, hope his men will rise and win the Chibuku Super Cup although the odds are staked against them.

Amakhosi face Black Rhinos in the Chibuku Super Cup semi-finals this weekend, with the defending champions FC Platinum taking on Herentals.
