Kadewere set to join Spanish side Real Mallorca

Sport
According to the French newspaper, L’Équipe, Mallorca will welcome the Zimbabwe international striker on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

BY DANIEL NHAKANISO WARRIORS forward Tino Kadewere’s nightmare at French side Olympique Lyon is set to come to an end following reports that he is set to complete a move to Spanish La Liga club RCD Mallorca on a season-long loan.

According to the French newspaper, L’Équipe, Mallorca will welcome the Zimbabwe international striker on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

The former Harare City player is set to miss Lyon’s Ligue 1 match against Marshall Munetsi’s Reims on Sunday, along with Lucas Paquetá who is imminently set for a move to West Ham for €62m.

Strasbourg were pushing to sign Kadewere on loan as a replacement for Ludovic Ajorque, who was on the verge of signing for Hertha Berlin.

However, the move failed to materialise as Kadewere was named in the matchday squad for Lyon’s opening two matches of the season without getting any minutes.

Lyon coach Peter Bosz had reportedly made it clear that Kadewere was not in his plans this season having marginalised him in the club’s early pre-season outings.

Kadewere was also keen to leave this European summer with the club reportedly receiving a dozen loan requests for the player, but the club wanted a permanent sale instead.

Lyon signed the Zimbabwean star from Le Havre for €12m  where he finished as the top scorer in the French second-tier Ligue 2 in 2020.
