This morning, I received an invitation to experience the GWM Tank 500. Admit, something is catchy about telling your friends and colleagues, “I drive a tank.”
This formidable SUV, hailing from the Chinese automotive giant Great Wall Motors (GWM), has garnered significant buzz for its striking design, impressive performance, and comprehensive array of features. In this article, we delve into the nuances of the Tank 500, offering a comprehensive review that caters to the discerning tastes of Zimbabwean drivers.

It will rival the Land Cruiser 300 series in terms of ride comfort and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). It also has some creature comforts and safety features that you will not find in a Landcruiser, such as Electric Power Steering EPS, Alloy Rims, Wireless Charger, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution EBD, Auto Defogger, Remote Windows/Smart Key Open Close, Brakes Fog Lights, Adjustable Headlights/Headlights Levelling, Side Stepper, and much more. I know I will get a bashing from Landcruiser fanatics, but this vehicle is worth taking a look at.
The engine draws its gasoline from an 80-liter tank. Claimed fuel consumption is 8.5km/litre with a top speed of 180km/hr.
