Jesus Christ; basic overview

If we read and study the Bible outside Christ, we come up with religion. Sincere Bible scholars read and study the Bible in light of Jesus Christ. They understand that the Bible is all about Jesus Christ.

RELIGIONS are not happy with the truth or reality that Jesus Christ is God. They would rather have him as God’s runner or errand boy or one of the prophets.

There are even elements within Christendom who don’t agree with the truth that Jesus is coequal with God.

If we read and study the Bible outside Christ, we come up with religion. Sincere Bible scholars read and study the Bible in light of Jesus Christ. They understand that the Bible is all about Jesus Christ.

Theology, loosely defined as the study of God is better understood through the lenses of Christology, which is the study of the Christ.

We will run into error and heresy if we study the Bible outside Jesus Christ.

There are many bodies of knowledge in the fields of divinity, religion, bibliology, theology, etc which I will not burden you with.

All these are dissected through Christ in order to rightly divide the Word of Truth.

The Bible is Jesus Christ’s book. Jesus said in John 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

The Jews missed this. At the material point of writing, Scriptures referred to Genesis to Malachi. It was before Matthew to Revelation was added to the canon of Scripture.

Who is Jesus? We read, Matthew 16:13,15-16, “[13] When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? [15] He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? [16] And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. He is the anointed Messiah or the Saviour.

We conclude the above revelation with Matthew 16:20, “Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.”

This quashes the notion of the multitudes, Matthew 16:14, New King James, “So they said, ‘Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets’.”.

We need spiritual eyes to see this and spiritual ears to hear it. Let’s look at the trinity. Jesus is fully God and fully human. He told them that seeing Him is seeing God the Father.

Let the Bible speak; John 14:8-10, “[8] Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. [9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? [10] Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”

Still on trinity, we know that the Holy Spirit is one with God. Jesus tells us in John 14:16, 26, “[16] And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The Holy Spirit is testimony of Jesus Christ. This helps those who follow sects that lie that they use the spirit for direct divine communication.

They teach against the Bible and ignorantly think that the New Testament church is a spiritual entity without Jesus. Yes, the church is spiritual but it is of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit, Jesus and the Bible are not contradictory.

The Holy Spirit speaks of Jesus Christ. John 15:26, Amplified, reads, “But when the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father, He will testify and bear witness about Me.”

We cannot amplify the Holy Spirit and downgrade Jesus Christ.

Prophecy had already told us that Jesus is God and that His Spirit is God. God is One. Deuteronomy 6:4 says, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:” Jesus is the Mighty God, Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

Some have prayed to see God and have not seen Him while others said they saw God but we know that they were lying.

God is speaking to you now by His Spirit and His Word in the Bible and through people and circumstances and your spirit is echoing or resonating.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
