Preparations for the first-ever Guruve District SMEs Networking Breakfast, an event dedicated to advancing partnerships, innovation, and growth among Zimbabwe’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are at an advanced stage.
This strategic initiative, co-hosted by the Guruve Rural District Council (RDC), Indigenous Advisory Practitioners Association of Zimbabwe (IAPAZ), and the Zimbabwe Chamber of SMEs, tomorrow in Guruve will bring together key players from government, the private sector, and the SME community to foster collaboration and strengthen economic development across the district.
Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Christopher Magomo, will officiate as the guest of honor. His keynote address will highlight the government’s ongoing commitment to SME growth under Zimbabwe's Vision 2030, focusing on national strategies to empower local businesses as outlined in the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).
Magomo is expected to encourage SMEs to embrace innovation and resilience, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles.
The event has also attracted representatives from pivotal government agencies, including the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA), which plays a key role in investment facilitation and policy alignment to support SMEs. Their attendance underscores the government’s commitment to creating a robust ecosystem for SME growth, promoting both Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as part of Zimbabwe’s broader economic development agenda.
Leading private sector corporations will also participate in discussions aimed at enhancing collaboration with SMEs. The presence of these larger corporates underscores the importance of integrating SMEs within broader value chains and developing tailored products and services to meet their needs, positioning SMEs as valuable partners in national economic growth.
The program will include panel discussions covering essential themes: “Challenges Facing SMEs and Their Impact on Growth,” “Products, Solutions, and Collaboration Opportunities with Large Corporates,” and “Government and Local Authority Policies for SME Development.” These sessions will feature insights from government officials, industry leaders, and local entrepreneurs, addressing both the obstacles and opportunities SMEs encounter in today’s economic climate.
The day will also include a tree-planting ceremony symbolizing growth and sustainability, as well as the official opening of the newly developed View Point Conference Center, hosted by its visionary owner, Mupunga.
