Man attempts to rape ex-wife

Muronzi told the court that this was the second time she was applying for a protection order against Matora.

A Harare woman sought a protection order against her ex-husband whom she accused of attempting to rape her.

The estranged couple Hazel Muronzi and Passmore Matora appeared before magistrate Meenal Narotam on Friday.

Muronzi told the court that this was the second time she was applying for a protection order against Matora.

She asked the court to stop Matora from visiting her place of residency.

“Two weeks ago, he came to my house and broke my door. He attempted to rape me,” she submitted.

“He is in the habit of collecting rentals from my tenants and we live in different houses yet he comes to my house disturbing my peace.”

Matora did not deny the charges.

“I attempted to rape her after she had insulted my wife and I did go to her house to discuss issues of maintenance,” he said.
