Mnangagwa protest earns man three years in jail

Tafadzwa Hapureni was sentenced to three years in jail for obstructing free movement of persons when he appeared before Chipinge magistrate Nixon Mangoti.

A 23-YEAR-OLD Chipinge man barricaded the Birchenough Bridge-Mount Selinda road with stones and burning tyres while calling for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to step down.

Tafadzwa Hapureni was sentenced to three years in jail for obstructing free movement of persons when he appeared before Chipinge magistrate Nixon Mangoti.

Mangoti conditionally suspended one year of his sentence.

The court heard that on July 15, Harupeni together with his accomplice Isaac Chitengwa went at the 20 kilometre  peg along Birchengough Bridge-Mount Selinda road and barricaded the road with stones and burning tyres.

The duo also carried placards calling on Mnangagwa to step down.

The placards read: "The Zimbabwe African# Revolution, Mnangagwa must step down resistance # fire 4 fire,the revolutionary movement # with due respect Mnangagwa must step down the fall of vision 2030 resistance fire for fire sniper operation."
