Man assaults wife over contraceptives

His wife took her family planning pills as usual, but her husband accused her of taking too many of the tablets.

A 39-YEAR-OLD Gweru man  was arrested after he assaulted his wife for taking contraceptives during the night to prevent pregnancy.

Rabson Machaka also accused his wife, Linda Wasara (38), of cheating.

He was convicted of domestic violence by Gweru magistrate Nixon Mangoti.

Mangoti sentenced Machaka to three years in prison.

The sentence was, however, conditionally suspended and committed to 140 hours of community service.

According to court papers, on January 18 Machaka went to bed with his wife Wasara without having any dispute.

His wife took her family planning pills as usual, but her husband accused her of taking too many of the tablets.

A misunderstanding arose after the husband accused his wife of infidelity.

He assaulted his wife with open hands and fists all over.
