People’s Unity Party (PUP) leader Herbert Chamuka has written to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa's office, requesting a meeting to discuss national development strategies.
Talking to this publication, Chamuka emphasized the importance of collaboration, saying PUP is committed to working with the elected government for the betterment of Zimbabwe.
"As PUP, we believe that fighting the ruling party is unnecessary," Chamuka said. "Instead, collaboration would do good for the nation and the economy. We want to understand how Vision 2030 is going to be achieved and how we can contribute."
"We encourage all political parties to join hands to find solutions for our country's challenges," Chamuka continued. "We want to see Zimbabwe grow economically and respect the elected leadership."
His request comes after rumors circulated on social media claiming Mnangagwa refused to meet with opposition parties.
Mnangagwa has since refuted these claims, stating his openness to discussions that benefit the nation.
"We are ready to meet with the President and discuss ways to better our country," Chamuka concluded.
PUP's request highlights a potential shift in the political landscape of Zimbabwe, with a growing focus on cooperation over division.
