Armed robbers strike at Bindura mine

The incident, which occurred at AX mine located at Simona Farm was confirmed by provincial deputy police spokesperson sergeant major Samuel Chikasha.

Police in Mashonaland Central province are hunting for five armed people who robbed a mine in Bindura last week.

The incident, which occurred at AX mine located at Simona Farm was confirmed by provincial deputy police spokesperson sergeant major Samuel Chikasha.

"The robbers tied seven mine workers and looted eight sacks of pregnant carbon, two horsepower water pumps and cell phones and went away," Chikasha said.

It is alleged that one worker Dereck Nyaude eventually untied himself hours later and rescued his colleagues.

A police report was filed at Bindura police station and investigations are on-going, Chikasha said.

He said robbery cases are on the increase in Mashonaland Central and appealed to company owners to tighten their security.
