A GWERU man was yesterday found lying in a pool of blood at the Ascot Extension shops after he was reportedly butchered by a gang which has been terrorising residents in the suburb.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko yesterday confirmed the incident.
"We are waiting for official information (on the incident),"Mahoko said.
When the Southern Eye crew visited the murder scene at around 6am yesterday, police were still carrying out investigations.
The man had multiple wounds on his lower abdomen and at the back of his upper shoulder.
Witnesses who spoke to Southern Eye said at around 1am, the man believed to be a gold panner, had an altercation with some gangsters at the night club before they chased him out while armed with dangerous weapons.
"The deceased went outside shouting that he was going to make sure that the night club closed," a witness who refused to be identified said.
"When he came back (to the night club) he was armed with stones and that is when the gang attacked him with okapi knives and other weapons."
