UK embassy warns about job offers

News
In a statement, the embassy said job seekers must get contracts describing the salary, hours, location and repayment clauses and make sure that the employer sticks to the contract to avoid being scammed.

The United Kingdom embassy says Zimbabweans must exercise caution when searching for greener pastures abroad to avoid being duped by bogus agents.

The embassy made the call after it emerged that Zimbabwean caregivers based in Britain were being subjected to unfair labour practises and ill-treatment.

In a statement, the embassy said job seekers must get contracts describing the salary, hours, location and repayment clauses and make sure that the employer sticks to the contract to avoid being scammed.

A UK embassy official also said: “The UK wants Zimbabweans who migrate to the UK to take up legal work within its public and private health and social care sectors to be safe and protected from unethical recruitment practices.

“We expect all agencies recruiting Zimbabweans in these sectors to abide by the UK’s Code of Practice for International Recruitment.”
