Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube identified the deceased as Tichaona Moyo from Ngozi Mine.

A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Ngozi Mine, located between Richmond and Cowdray Park, was run over by a refuse truck while scavenging for food at a dumpsite on Wednesday.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube identified the deceased as Tichaona Moyo from Ngozi Mine.

“He was scavenging and fell off the truck, resulting in him being run over. He was transferred to Mpilo (Central) Hospital, where he died after admission,” Ncube said.

Sources said Moyo was a waste picker.

Located on the outskirts of Bulawayo, Ngozi Mine is Bulawayo’s main dumpsite and is home to approximately 400 households without access to basic amenities like electricity, water and sanitation.
