Zvishavane man caged 10 years for stealing copper cabbles

A MAN from Zvishavane was sentenced for 10 years in jail for stealing copper cables.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, Emmanuel Sibanda (41) was bought before Zvishavane Migistrate Court on charges of contravening the Electrical Act, that is cutting, damaging, destroying or interfering with apparatus for generating, transmitting, distributing or supply of electricity.

On June 4, at 8pm Sibanda went to Shabanie Mine where he cut  4x2,5 metre copper cable bars, clamps, 3x3 metrex50mm blue copper cables, 3x3 metrex50mm yellow copper cables, 3x3 metrex50mm red copper cables and 2x1 metrex16mm naked copper cables.

The security officers at the mine heard noise and went to investigate. They apprehended Sibanda whom they handed over to the police.

They recovered stolen goods worth US$897.
