Extradited Gweru murderer indicted to High Court

Peter Dube’s trial has been set for September 9 this year.

A GWERU man who was recently extradited from Ireland after killing two people while injuring two others has been indicted to stand trial at the High Court in the Midlands capital.

Peter Dube’s trial has been set for September 9 this year.

Dube (40) was extradited early this year from Ireland to Mozambique, afterwhich the neighbouring country arrested him and handed him over to the Zimbabwean authorities.

Allegations are that Dube shot Shelton Chiduku with a Zastara pistol on the left shoulder, resulting in his instant death.

The incident took place on April 22, 2022 at Bensam Flats along Main Street in Gweru following an altercation that ensued after he accused Chiduku of having an affair with his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo.

After shooting Chiduku, Dube allegedly shot Gamuchirai Mudungwe on the left cheek, resulting in her instant death.

Dube proceeded upstairs at Bensam Flats, where he also shot Nharingo once on the right cheek.

According to a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the bullet went through to the left side of the neck, removed the right molar tooth and landed on the upper side of her shoulder.

Nharingo was ferried to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where she was treated and discharged.

Dube allegedly shot his sister-in-law, Nyaradzo Nharingo, once above the left ear and the bullet went  through and raptured her left eye.

She was also ferried to Gweru General Hospital, where she was treated and discharged.
