A 52-YEAR-OLD jilted Hwange man was jailed six years for attempting to kill his ex-wife (30), accusing her of remarrying without his consent.

Dominic Ncube, who was convicted of attempted murder, will, however, serve an effective four-year jail term after two years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said that on October 18 last year, Ncube approached his ex-wife who was working in her fields.

The court heard that Ncube expressed displeasure over his ex-wife’s decision to remarry, resulting in a misunderstanding.

Ncube struck the complainant with a stick twice on the back.

He then tripped her and while on the ground, took needles from his pocket before piercing her on the abdomen and chest.

After the incident, Ncube ran away and his ex-wife was rescued by her husband, who took her to the police station to file a police report.
