A 36-YEAR-OLD man from Fort Rixon has been remanded out of custody after being arrested for allegedly stealing stockfeeds at Mbokodo Abattoir in Figtree.
Lungile Nkiwane appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He will appear in court on July 22 for trial.
The complainant is a security guard, James Chivandudzo, representing Mbokodo Abattoir.
Prosecutor Selkstine Madziwa told the court that on July 7 this year, Chivandudzo saw Nkiwane while allegedly stealing stockfeed from a parked trailer at the Mbokodo complex and hiding it about 40 metres away.
Nkiwane had already offloaded five bags of stockfeed when the guard confronted him and he lied that he was a co-worker.
Chivandudzo tried to apprehend Nkiwane, but he ran away before the security guard raised alarm and other security guards reacted quickly.
Nkiwane was apprehended outside the complex.

The security guards took him back to the scene and they noticed that he had stolen five bags of stockfeed valued at US$90 and they were recovered.
He was reported to police leading to his arrest.
