Briefs:  Midlands HIV group rebrands

Maso founding chief executive Ticharwa Masimira said the shift reflected their commitment to remain relevant in a fast changing environment.

Midlands Aids Service Organisation (Maso) has rebranded and changed its name to Multi-Aid Support Organisation to broaden its scope beyond HIV and Aids.

Maso founding chief executive Ticharwa Masimira said the shift reflected their commitment to remain relevant in a fast changing environment.

“This change is coming from a backdrop of comprehensive success stories, multi-contextual experiences, strategic partnerships and synergies where Maso is seeking to broaden the scope of its interventions beyond HIV and Aids,” Masimira said.

“The change is a quest to address current developmental challenges that devastate our communities including climate change and environmental degradation while building communities’ resilience to face and address these challenges.”

Masimira said Maso’s new vision is aimed at driving communities, self-determination, unity and progress.

He said the new Maso is seeking to expand its horizon to cover new geographical space beyond Midlands to become a national organisation.

Maso was established in 1991 in a Gweru as a non-profit organisation mainly focusing on HIV and aids.
