A BULAWAYO man died on arrival at a hospital after he was hit by a car in the central business district on Monday.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
“On February 25 at 6.30am, a male aged 36 of Lobengula West, Bulawayo, who had parked his Peugeot 306 registration number ADI 8247 at a centre parking along George Salonika Street between 11th and 12th Avenues Bulawayo, started his motor vehicle while it was engaged in gear,” Ncube said.
“The vehicle then sped hitting Godfrey Khumalo who was seated on a pavement. The vehicle went on to hit a shop’s wall and finally stopped.”
He said Khumalo was taken to United Bulawayo Hospital where he died on admission.
“The motor vehicle was damaged on the front and the building was left cracked with its window panes shattered. The cause of the accident was due to inattention or misjudgement by the driver.”
