MHONDORO, Mar.25 (NewsDayLive)- Over 600 students drawn from rural schools in Mhondoro, Mashonaland West province, last week benefited from a careers expo jointly organised by Trust Academy and Presbyterian Education Trust.
The expo was held at Presbyterian Chitemere Harold Munro Secondary School in Mubaira.
The school chaplain, Reverend Lazarus Sajeni hailed the event as a "life-changing experience that offered students and teachers a unique opportunity for vision and goal setting."
"This was a rare opportunity for a rural school to partner with an urban one in exploring the rather evolving job market and to expose pupils from marginalized areas to a world outside theirs," he said.
Sajeni said plans were afoot to roll out the programme beyond Mhondoro district.
"We believe in collaborative efforts as a way of bringing transformative experiences to our students,” he said.
“Our thrust is not only to inspire our students but has also motivated the educators to continue seeking innovative ways to support their growth and development.”
He called on government support for the initiative in order to reach out to more rural students to bridge the rural-urban divide.
