ZANU PF Manicaland province youth chairperson Stanley Sakupwanya has said local authorities should comply with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s directive to reserve stands for them.
Sakupwanya made the remarks while addressing Zanu PF supporters at an inter-district meeting at Biriri in Chimanimani over the weekend.
“On the Munhumutapa Day commemorations last year, President Emmerson Mnangagwa ordered all councils to reserve stands for youths so today I want to say to the Chimanimani Rural District Council that when your stands are ready reserve a portion for youths,” he said.
“We are not saying these stands are for free but we can at least pay in instalments until we finish paying for them. Accommodation is very important for us youths.”
Sakupwanya, who is also the Parliamentary Youth Caucasus Portfolio Committee chairperson, is engineering several stand initiatives in Manicaland province.
“When there is Pfumvudza programme something should be reserved for youths so that they also participate in farming, youths should be hardworking,” he said.
Transport deputy minister Joshua Sacco, who is the Chimanimani East Member of Parliament, was the guest of honour at the meeting.
Zanu PF Manicaland provincial chairperson Tawanda Mukodza and Chimanimani West legislator Wilson Maphosa also graced the event.
