Govt to deregister unlicensed vehicles

GOVERNMENT has announced plans to cancel the registration of vehicles that have not been licensed or have been exempted for over two years.

According to a government notice, the Registrar of Vehicles intends to cancel the registration of affected vehicles unless their owners regularise the vehicles within 30 days.

"IT is hereby notified, in terms of section 12(c) of the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Act [Chapter 13:14], that the Registrar of Vehicles intends to cancel the registration of vehicles not licensed and exempted for a period exceeding two years, " said Saston Muzenda, the Registrar of the Central Vehicle Registry (CVR).

Muzenda notified the parties affected to approach the Central Vehicle Registry or the Zimbabwe National Road Administration to pay outstanding fees for their vehicles licences.

"Affected parties are hereby notified to approach the Central Vehicle Registry to regularise their vehicles or the Zimbabwe National Road Administration to pay outstanding arrears on the licensing of their vehicles within 30 days from the date of publication of this notice.”
