THE lifeless body of a woman with a missing lip has been discovered at Gaika Mine in Kwekwe.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko yesterday confirmed the discovery of the corpse.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the discovery of a body of an unknown woman at Gaika Mine in Kwekwe on October 1 at around 8am,” Mahoko said.
He said the woman, who is suspected to have been murdered, was discovered by a security guard at the mine.
“One Chrispen Muzembi aged 58 of Mbizo in Kwekwe, a security guard at Gaika Mine, was on duty when he made the discovery,” he said.
“This happened when he was carrying out perimeter checks around the mine and he found the body facing upwards along a fireguard surrounding the mine.”
He said police officers from Kwekwe observed that the body had bruises on the left hand and inner thigh, with the upper lip missing.
Mahoko appealed to anyone who might have information related to the death of the woman to report the nearest police station.
