2 gold panners killed in Esigodini

 Police in Bulawayo are appealing to the public for information, which may lead to the arrest of the suspects.

TWO gold panners succumbed to  injuries sustained during an attack at a mining site in Esigodini on Thursday, police have said.

In a statement, police  said, Bulisani Ncube (50) and one unknown male adult -who were illegal miners- were indiscriminately hacked with machetes, axes and logs by unidentified suspects. 

They later died at Esigodini Hospital.

 Police in Bulawayo are appealing to the public for information, which may lead to the arrest of the suspects.

In another matter, police in Masvingo have confirmed the death of three people in a road traffic accident which occurred at the 217 km peg along Harare-Masvingo Highway on Thursday morning. 

 Police said preliminary investigations indicated that a UD truck with three passengers on board collided with a Freightliner truck also with three passengers on board after the UD truck had encroached into the opposite lane.

The bodies of the victims were taken to Mvuma District Hospital for post mortem while the injured were admitted for treatment at the same health facility .
