GURUVE Rural District Council (RDC) chief executive officer Tinos Marisa has been fired over a litany of charges after over 20 years at the helm, NewsDay has learnt.
The sacking followed a tribunal held on July 2 this year.
“Council has resolved in a meeting held on July 25, that you will be discharged from employment with effect from August 4,” read the the letter to Marisa dated July 26.
Marisa was on suspension before he was eventually fired.
Guruve RDC chairperson Fadson Mandaza confirmed the firing of Marisa.
“I can confirm that our former chief executive officer Tinos Marisa was handed a letter confirming his termination of employment. He is now in possession of the letter,” Mandaza said.
“Some of the charges which led to the dismissal of Marisa are that he drilled two boreholes at his farm using devolution funds and using council lawyers in personal cases, abuse of office and misuse of an estate account.”
