THE Murewa Magistrates Court on Friday issued a warrant of arrest against controversial businessman Clark Makoni after he failed to attend a court hearing where is facing four counts, among them attempted murder.
Makoni allegedly shot at miner Courage Moyo’s vehicle, deflating a rear tyre in the process following a wrangle over mine ownership.
The businessman was also charged for cyber bullying after he filmed himself in a police cell at Juru Police Station with all his belongings, accusing the law enforcers of wrongly arresting him.
The video went viral, igniting debate on most social media platforms on why police officers allowed a suspect to be detained with his belongings.
According to court papers, on June 5 at around 2pm, the accused person, who was driving a Toyota Prado vehicle, met the complainant at the 45km peg along Harare-Nyamapanda Highway.
An argument ensued and Makoni allegedly fired a shot in the air and another one at Moyo’s vehicle.
After the shooting, the accused allegedly drove away from the scene.
Moyo allegedly pursued Makoni and caught up with him at a police roadblock near Juru growth point, where he was intercepted by police officers.

It is alleged that in full glare of police officers, Makoni drew his pistol and pointed it at Moyo threatening to shoot him.
He was arrested and his pistol was seized by the police.
It is reported that upon being taken to Juru Police Station, the accused behaved in a disorderly manner, insulting police officers.
He refused to surrender his belongings and was detained, while in possession of his mobile phone.
Makoni then filmed himself in police cells and posted the video on his Facebook account.
The other charge is disorderly conduct.
Makoni is currently out on bail and was expected to appear at Murewa Magistrates Court on Friday last week.
