A 37-YEAR-OLD man from Zhombe in the Midlands province is fighting for his life after a four-man gang stabbed him several times with Columbia knives in a dispute over gold.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the victim, Tichaona Chiremba, was admitted to Zhombe Mission Hospital.

“A 37-year-old man was severely assaulted by four men on Friday through the use of stones and Columbia knives until he fell unconscious,” Mahoko said.

He said police had since launched a manhunt for the suspects, identified as Maibongo Ngwalati, Jerry Kwenya, Nathan Mdudusi and Mdudusi Kwenya, all from Lwisani village under Chief Gwesela in Zhombe.

He said the four allegedly confronted the victim at St Andrews business centre and an argument ensued.

“They hit him with stones and he tried to run away, but when he (Chiremba) was about 100 metres away from the business centre, they caught up with him and stabbed him several times,” he said.
