ORGANISERS of the Kariba Carnival say all is set for the inaugural event to kick off today.
The Carnival will run from May 30 to June 1, 2024 at Lake Harvest Sports Club in the resort town.
The event which will run under the theme, Ploughing back to communities, seeks to promote culture, arts and tourism in Kariba.
This year's edition will see thousands of people from various countries including Zambia and South Africa descending on Kariba soil to witness the first premier event ever to be staged in the resort town, organisers said.
Samanyanga Village is hosting the Kariba Carnival and Business Expo in partnership with Platinum FM.
Samanyanga Village executive director Paul Marimberimbe yesterday confirmed that the event was going ahead as planned.
"What I can say is the town is ready and everyone can't wait to experience one of Zimbabwe's premier events,” said Marimberimbe.
"Kariba Carnival and Business Expo is a one-stop event. We got a carnival combined with a Business Expo and this is to make sure that at least we fit everyone somewhere.

“Exhibitors are also flocking to buy our stands and they can't wait to be part of this premium showcase.”
Marimberimbe added: “Our local Tonga, Shangwe and Korekore cultures are rich with potential to attract large numbers of people thereby promoting tourism.”
Kariba Tourism and Business Indaba co-ordinator, Cephas Shonhiwa, said the event would promote Kariba as a tourist destination.
''The idea of having a carnival in Kariba is good as it puts the town on the tourism map,” said Shonhiwa.
"What we need to do as stakeholders is to support the carnival by attending in numbers and partaking in all activities that will take place. The support we render will not only shape tourism in Kariba but abroad.”
