Bonde applauds BCC on restoring order

In an interview, the National Tree Ambassador said the Egodini project has also eliminated illegal private transport operators who were causing disorder in the city.

National Tree Ambassador, Never Bonde, has applauded the Bulawayo city council for restoring order and cleanliness in the Central Business District (CBD) following the relocation of kombis and vendors to the new look Egodini Terminus.

The Egodini terminus finally opened its gates last week.

In an interview, the National Tree Ambassador said the Egodini project has also eliminated illegal private transport operators who were causing disorder in the city.

“I wish to applaud the city of Bulawayo authorities for pushing the eGodini project which has been lying dormant for many years,” Bonde said.

“The city had lost its order and cleanliness due to motorists and vendors flooding the streets and pavements in the city centre.

“Following the opening of the rank, there is now a semblance of order and cleanliness in the city.

“We know its still work in progress but we are confident that the city will reclaim its cleanliness status as city fathers move to complete the first phase.”.

Bonde urged the local authority to plant new trees at the refurbished rank.

“I have discovered that a lot of exotic trees were removed during the construction phase of the rank. We however appeal to the city council to plant more trees at the rank so that we have more oxygen and shades for everyone using the facility,” he said.

“Trees will also reduce the amount of stormwater runoff in the city.”
