A PLUMTREE-BASED church caretaker led police to the discovery of his loot which he had stashed in a church building.
Ishmael Dube was dragged to Plumtree Magistrates Courts on Wednesday, where he appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware facing theft charges.
Nembaware sentenced him to two years in jail after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Six months were suspended.
Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa told the court that on December 7, Thandiwe Mbewe locked the doors at her homestead and went away.
Hours later, Dube went to Mbewe’s house and broke a window pane to gain entry to the house.
The convict stole blankets, clothes, a microphone, a drilling machine and a wood-cutting machine.
He hid the loot at a church building.
Mbewe came home the following day and discovered that her personal belongings had been stolen.
She found some of her property at a nearby church.
A police report was filed leading to the arrest of Dube.
