A 20-YEAR-OLD Zimbabwean, Methulesi Moyo, has been arraigned before Extension 2 Magistrate Court accused of killing his friend, Fortune Sibanda in Modipane, Botswana, last week.
According to media reports from that country, Sub Inspector Elsie Kgaodi said their investigations were still at initial stages and pleaded with the court to remand Moyo in custody.
Kgaodi said Moyo was a flight risk with no legal papers.
Magistrate Kamogelo Mmesi remanded Moyo in custody to August 28 for trial.
Tlokweng Police Station commander, Unoziba Rari said Moyo was arrested following a tip-off.
Rari told the media that Moyo and the deceased were working at Segakwana near Modipane village.
“It appears that the two had an agreement in which the accused (lent) his friend money which he was supposed to pay back at the end of the month, but Sibanda failed to pay back at the agreed time," Rari said.
“The accused seems to have attacked and killed the deceased after the misunderstanding."
Rari said they also arrested the employers of the deceased and the accused for hiring illegal immigrants.
