Vandals tear down CCC poll posters

Vandals tear down CCC poll posters

CITIZENS Coalition for Change (CCC) Matabeleland South province is riled by a spike in destruction of its campaign posters by suspected Zanu PF activists.

The concerns were raised by CCC Matabeleland South chairperson Solani Moyo on Friday.

“In Matabeleland South, we are busy campaigning and talking to people, but they are busy destroying our posters. People say they have been promised development which has not been fulfilled,” he said.

“Zanu PF has no issues to promise anymore. People are also being threatened with assault if they vote for the opposition.”

CCC posters, however, appear not to be the only target. CCC ward 23 council candidate Nomusa Moyo was last month left nursing bruises after she was allegedly attacked by her Zanu PF rival Sikhanyisiwe Nkomo at Shangani shopping centre, Insiza, Matabeleland South.

She filed a report with the Criminal Investigations Department Law and Order police in Filabusi on the same day.

A police report, seen by Southern Eye, indicated that Moyo developed a swollen face as a result of the attack.

“The complainant was poked on the face by the accused using her right finger,” partly read the police report.

Nkomo has, however, dismissed the allegations as false, adding that Moyo was the one who provoked her.
