A Harare motorist whose Mercedes Benz was damaged following a costly fuel mix up at one of Zimbabwe’s biggest car dealerships has filed multiple complaints with key state agencies, accusing the car dealer of intimidating her.
Croco Motors — the car dealership — has been in the eye of a protracted legal storm since Kudzayi Mundangepfupfu’s vehicle was allegedly refilled with diesel at one of the firm’s facilities, instead of petrol.
In the aftermath of the error, the parties agreed that Mundangepfupfu gets a car to use while Croco fixes her vehicle.
However, after her car was returned on July 9 last year, Mundangepfupfu but did not handover the Croco vehicle that she had been using, triggering the dispute.
Documents seen by the Zimbabwe Independent indicate that numerous efforts were made for Mundangepfupfu to return the car, but she claimed that Croco used unqualified mechanics, which led to the vehicle being damaged.
She argued that the mix-up inconvenienced her.
Mundangepfupfu has since been arrested over the issue and is currently undergoing trial while Croco recovered its vehicle.
In complaints filed with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission, the police, general headquarters and Judicial Service Commission, Mundangepfupfu claims the car dealer has ‘bribed’ law enforcement agencies to silence her.

The complaints are dated November 22, 2022 and June 14, 2023.
“It is my strong conviction that someone at Croco Motors bribed the members of the Marlborough police force to institute the falsified report…,” Mundangepfupfu claimed.
“Other members of Marlborough police were also shocked by the events…and (said) the entire issue was not straight. I hope that your high office (police HQ) will look into the matter and prevent me from being tried based on false evidence presented by Marlborough police. I was denied the CRB number… and also denied a chance to see the docket or what I was being accused of,” she added.
On June 14, 2023, Mundangepfupfu filed a complaint against magistrate Yeukai Dzuda citing bias and prejudice.
Efforts to get a comment from Croco Motors were fruitless.
Several efforts for comment from Croco Motors owner, Moses Chingwena and his son Wesley were also fruitless.
Mundangepfupfu was not responding to calls, while the police have not responded to the Independent’s questions.
