SEVEN people, including three foreign nationals died in two separate accidents on Friday, police confirmed yesterday.
According to police, four family members died on the spot when a Landrover Defender vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and overturned before landing on its wheels.
The fatal accident occurred at around 1130am at the 7.5km peg along Skyline road, Norton.
Police said the accident involving foreign nationals occurred along the Masvingo-Betbridge road.
“In another fatal road accident which occurred on 30 September at around 1430 hours at the 170km peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge road, three foreign nationals died when a Volvo XC90 vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road before landing in a ditch,” police said.
“As a result of the accident, the driver and one passenger died on the spot whilst the other passenger died upon admission at a local private hospital.”
In an unrelated case, two artisanal miners were hacked to death in an argument over a girlfriend on Thursday, police said.
According to police, Tinashe Nyanguwo (38) and Joshua Kadungure (37) were attacked by machete-wielding suspects only identified as Rastar and Peter.

“ZRP Murereka is investigating a case of murder which occurred at village 19 shops, Chikuti. Nyanguwo died on the spot while Kadungure died upon admission at a local clinic. Anyone with information to contact the nearest police station,” police said.
According to police, machete gangs continue to cause havoc across the country.
At least 33 000 machete gang members were arrested between January and July this year.
