Creating a cycle of blessing: The importance of giving back

Mother Theresa was an Albanian-Indian Catholic

WHEN we think of greatness, we often associate it with extraordinary achievements, exceptional talent or remarkable accomplishments.

However, greatness is not just about achieving something remarkable.

It’s about the impact we have on others and the world around us.

In this article, we’ll explore why we should aim to have a positive effect on those around us as we pursue our purpose.

Mother Theresa was an Albanian-Indian Catholic nun and the founder of the Missionaries of Charity.

She said: “A life not lived for others is not a life.”

Now, many may think that this means we have to bow to the whims of those around us, but this is not so.

I believe this statement suggests that the fulfilment of our purpose serves to better our lives as well as the lives of those around us.

One of the most selfish acts one can commit is to refuse to be great.

The definition of greatness differs from person to person.

When we choose not to pursue our dreams, talents or passions, we are not just holding ourselves back.

We are also denying others the opportunity to benefit from our greatness.

Think about it: If you have a gift or talent that could bring joy or inspiration to others, isn’t it selfish to keep it hidden away?

By refusing to be great, we are essentially saying that our comfort and security are more important than the potential good we could do for others.

It’s not just about arriving at a certain point, but about the growth, learning and transformation that occur along the way.

When we focus on becoming great, we are not just striving for personal glory, but for the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

So, what does it mean to be great? It means being authentic, passionate and committed to your purpose.

It means being willing to take risk and stepping outside your comfort zone.

It means being humble and willing to learn from others.

It means giving back to the community so we do not succeed alone.

Be intentional about using your gifts and talents to make a positive difference in the world.

Now, you might be wondering how you can give back to the community as you pursue success.

Listed below are a few ways you can do so.

1 Donate to local charities

When we are blessed with financial resources, it’s essential to give back to our community by donating to local charities.

This not only helps those in need, but also contributes to the overall well-being of our society.

2 Express gratitude

When we express gratitude, we are not only acknowledging the good things in our lives, but we are also cultivating a positive attitude and mindset while building stronger relationships with others.

Make it a habit to express gratitude daily.

3 Volunteer your time and

share your skills

Volunteering your time is an excellent way to give back to your community and make a positive impact on the lives of others.

When we volunteer, we are not only helping others. We are also gaining valuable skills and experience while meeting new people and building relationships.

These are all but a few of the ways in which we can have an impact on the people around us. Find the way that best aligns with your purpose.

In conclusion, becoming great is not just about personal achievement. It’s about the positive impact we have on others.

Remember, when we give back to community, we are not just doing something good.

We are creating a ripple effect of kindness and generosity that can have a profound impact on the lives of others.

So let us strive to be great not just for our own sake, but also for the sake of those around us.

Let us use our talents and resources to uplift and inspire others and let us complete the circle of blessing by becoming a blessing to those around us.
