Livestock, including cattle and goats, is a source of wealth for many Zimbabweans, with villagers in Matabeleland South famous for keeping large herds of the domestic animals.
This comes amid indications that since January, more than 2 million children aged six to 59 months were screened for wasting and 7 004 children were treated.
On livestock diseases, the report stated that Chirumhanzu (53%) and Zaka (46%) had the highest proportions of households which reported livestock diseases.
“Matabeleland South (27.3%) had the highest proportion of household heads who were widowed against the national proportion of 23.6%,” the report reads.
According to the report, financial difficulties were the most commonly cited reasons preventing many families from affording education for their children.
