No probe over Doek & Slay fake tickets scandal

At the recent show at Alex Sports Club, 708 people were denied entry with fake tickets, and 1 452 had invalid tags.

THE organisers of the popular outdoor event, Doek and Slay, have revealed that they had to turn away a significant number of attendees due to counterfeit tickets and tags.

At the recent show at Alex Sports Club, 708 people were denied entry with fake tickets, and 1 452 had invalid tags.

To combat the issue, the organisers emphasised the importance of purchasing tickets from official sources and urged patrons to avoid buying cheap or suspicious tickets.

"Our tickets are equipped with advanced security features to prevent counterfeiting," they stated. "We advise against buying tickets from individuals, especially at the last minute."

Using fake tickets is a criminal offense, but the organisers expressed reluctance to involve the authorities.

"We didn't want to see our patrons arrested for being deceived by scammers," they explained.

“It wouldn’t have been nice to arrest our patrons over what they love.  Buying tickets shows their love and support for the event.  While it's unfortunate that they fell victim to fraud, we hope this incident serves as a reminder to always purchase tickets through legitimate channels.”

The Doek and Slay event, which was headlined by ExQ and Freeman, reportedly attracted over 13 000 attendees, breaking previous attendance records.
