CREATIVE director Talent “Rain” Midzi said for her to be where she is she had to be bossy in a male-dominated arts industry.
Midzi has been involved in public relations and management for a long time and wishes to see more women taking up leading roles in the creative sector.
She has worked with Poptain, Annita Jaxson, Enzo Ishal, Levels and Fantan.
Midzi started off her career in Masvingo at the Charles Austin Theatre.
“I started acting in High School and got a few awards. I then got a job at Charles Austin theatre in Masvingo where I discovered the-behind-the-scenes work before moving to Harare,” she said.
“Being in an industry that is heavily male dominated is not easy as you just have to push harder. I get really bossy to get the work done and don’t get me wrong, being bossy doesn’t mean being abusive, but demanding respect that should come with the work put in.”
Midzi advises young girls who want to make it in the industry not to sleep around so as to gain endorsements.
She advised young girls on the come-up to shy away from offering sexual favours in exchange of opportunities.
