IT has been a memorable season for Dynamos teenage striker Elton Chikona after winning the Chibuku Super Cup with the club while he was also voted the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League most promising player.
Looking back, it is a season that Chikona thought he would have very little or no game time at all because of his age.
But what eventually transpired has made him believe that he can achieve his ultimate dream; that is playing for English football giants Manchester United.
“I am happy with all I have achieved this season. To be honest I didn’t think I was going to play football at Dynamos this season because of my age. I thought as a junior player I had been signed just for development and also just to make up the numbers. I want to thank God because of the opportunity that I was given to showcase my talents and the goals that I scored,” Chikona told The Sports Hub
I am ready to play in the Caf Confederations Cup next season. I want to do my best in the competition so I can be seen and possibly get an opportunity to move to Europe. The big dream for me is to go to Europe and play for Manchester United.”
Chikona was the joint top scorer for Dynamos with five league goals from 13 matches while he also managed three assists in his debut season for the club.
The 18-year-old became the mainstay upfront for the most successful club in the country as senior strikers struggled for goals.
What makes the season more special for Chikona is the fact that he scored in the Chibuku Super final to help Dynamos lift their first major trophy in nine years.

“I am extremely happy because as a striker I have continued to score goals and scoring in a Cup finals is special as much as helping the team win a Cup. It has been a number of years for the club without winning a major tournament,” Chikona said.
He also revealed the secret behind his success on the field of play.
“Working extra hard when I am at home has helped to improve on my performances and the coaches have always been encouraging me to keep pushing as a player even when I am struggling. My parents have also played a big role in my career and they are encouraging me,” revealed the Kuwadzana-born and bred starlet.
In July this year, Chikona went for trials at an unnamed side in Finland and reportedly impressed but the anticipated move didn’t materialise.
