Teen, prophet arrested for murder

“The two related suspects have been arrested for the murder of Polite Manduku,” he said.

POLICE have arrested a 16-year-old juvenile and a 22-year-old self-styled prophet after they allegedly killed a woman who had attended a healing session at a shrine in Mandara, Harare.

In a statement yesterday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of the teenager and his relative Kenneth Mavurukuto, who allegedly murdered Polite Manduku after refusing to render their services to the woman.

“The 16-year-old male juvenile (name not mentioned) stabbed the victim Polite Manduku (27) in the groin with an Okapi knife after joining in a fight between Kenneth Mavurukuto (22), who is a self-proclaimed prophet,” Nyathi said.

“The victim had requested the services of Kenneth Mavurukuto, a self-proclaimed prophet, who invited her to his shrine at Velkom Marketplace, Mandara, and refused to attend to her spiritual challenge at the marketplace.”However, this resulted in a dispute that degenerated into a fight.

Manduku, according to the police, died while being transported to hospital.“The two related suspects have been arrested for the murder of Polite Manduku,” he said.
