Ananya pens song for toxic relationships

Ananya was born and raised in Zimbabwe, before moving to London.

UNITED KINGDOM-BASED singer Ananya said the desire to leave toxic relationships inspired her to pen her latest song titled Gone (Forever).

Gone (Forever) is the lead single off her forthcoming extended play recorded in Cape Town, South Africa, by Greg Abrahams who produced and co-wrote the song.

The song is a follow-up to the success of the single Where is the Love which made a mark on international radio stations.

In the song Ananya sings “I got the feeling that I am getting over you, it arrived tonight right on sue,” she asserts herself as having moved on from a stale relationship.

“This song was inspired by a vivid dream and is about realising you are giving more than you receive, then deciding to leave that situation with no hard feelings. It is an uplifting pop track that encompasses the feeling of finding strength from within and letting go,” she said.

“Knowing that people relate to my music is the biggest highlight for me. And I also can’t believe it when people know the words to the songs. I am blown away each time.”

Ananya was born and raised in Zimbabwe, before moving to London.

“I was born and raised in Harare, and most of my childhood was spent developing my passion for music through my mother’s eclectic music taste, performing, writing, and learning to play piano, guitar, and drums. I moved to the United Kingdom recently to complete my studies in fashion and entrepreneurship,” she noted.

“I am still a student and am focusing on completing my projects, but aside from music and school, I am a passionate advocate for mental health. A good friend of mine, Tony Friday and I have been working on a platform that provides help to those in need.”

Commenting on the state of the Zimbabwean music industry, she said: “The sky is the limit with Zimbabwe’s incredible talent and I am loving seeing Zimbabwean artistes in the United Kingdom too. I get excited that our Zimbabwean footprint is growing.

“Also, we need to work together and highlight mental health awareness and make mental healthcare freely available.”
