Hahn is expected to leave the country on March 17 for a two-week camp ahead of the grand finale on March 30.

Standardlife&style caught up with the model during one of her fitness training sessions at Total Healthzone Gym in Avondale on Thursday.

The sessions are her first ever serious gym workouts after FOZ sealed a sponsorship deal with the professional trainers.

“The thought of going to represent my country in such an event of high esteem is nerve-wracking, but I’m very excited and happy at the same time,” she said.

She said she loved the first-time gym experience.

Although she admits the sessions can be hard, her determination to drop a bit from her usual size 10 is the source of strength.

The tall, slender model has in the past two weeks been working with a personal trainer and nutritionist.

“When we started with her [Hahn], we noticed a posture problem in the way she walked and that has been corrected,” said the gym manager and personal trainer, Rumbidzai Mudimu.

Mudimu said they were mainly focusing on her fitness levels — instead of weight loss — and boosting her self-confidence as part of the regime.

Her nutritionist, Michelle Ramhewa said when she first met Hahn over two weeks ago, there had been great need to address her eating habits.

“To address her eating habits, I have put her on a diet that has balanced meals. We have not put her under any starving punishment, but a simple balance of variety, which will empower her beyond the pageant,” said Ramhewa.

The nutritionist said staying healthy did not mean drastically changing one’s diet to a sudden weight loss programme, but rather adjusting to a required balance to keep fit.

Hahn, who has about two weeks to reach her target, is currently focusing on a work out that would help her build and tighten muscles and burn fat.

It will be her second time on the international modelling scene after representing Zimbabwe at Miss Teen World in 2010, where she reached the top 15.

At Top Model of the World, Hahn will be looking forward to beating the standard set by former Miss Zimbabwe, Mushandu, who was crowned first princess at the same competition last year.
