Prominent Bulawayo film producer Ronald Sibanda will launch a groundbreaking skills development programme for local filmmakers in Bulawayo on Thursday.
The programme aims to empower filmmakers with a comprehensive range of skills, from film production and editing to directing, in a bid to elevate the local film industry.
Speaking to Standard Style, Sibanda said 55 local filmmakers have already registered for the workshops.
"The quality and process of making films is very delicate," Sibanda explained.
"If you notice in South Africa, the content is quite entertaining because they execute the process well.
“I want to share skills and pass on knowledge on how we can get our content to that level."
Sibanda also emphasised that high-quality production was essential for any sector to attract investment.
"Investors cannot invest money in a production unless one proves themselves," he said.

"This programme will focus on taking individuals with existing knowledge and skills to a level where they can identify and address their shortcomings."
The programme will run for three months, with weekend classes covering topics such as film makeup, wardrobe and styling, directing, and editing.
Sibanda revealed that the idea for the programme stemmed from research he conducted on the local film industry.
"When I returned to Zimbabwe two years ago, I began researching how the industry could improve and grow, and which areas needed attention," he said.
Despite facing challenges in securing sponsors, Sibanda decided to self-finance the programme.
"The outcome of this will be a group of individuals who have gained enhanced knowledge and skills," he said.
"After the programme, we will go into production to demonstrate that we were indeed learning."
Sibanda brings a wealth of experience to the programme, having worked as a freelancer for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) for 15 years.
His credits include editing, colour grading, and directing shows such as Zone 14 on SABC 1 and Muvhango on SABC 2.
Sibanda has also co-produced Madlela in Makokoba Season 3 and produced the talk show Ubuntu Talk Show with Ezra, hosted by Bulawayo journalist Ezra Tshisa Sibanda.
