Mukadota look-alike hails tech savvy Zimura

RISING Gweru-based gospel musician Emmanuel Mukoroverwa has applauded the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association's (Zimura) for bringing forth a newly incorporated music monitoring system.

Mukoroverwa said the technology was expected to register an improvement in the revenue for artistes and composers.

Speaking to Standard Style, the 45-year-old Mukadota look-alike, who  is currently topping local gospel charts, said for as long as one invests in promoting their music a reward awaits them.

"Zimura is leading the way. By bringing forth a culture of growth and upliftment of the music industry, it's enough a sign of commiting to the  support for the musicians,” he said.

"In general the ability to learn from others and incorporate fresh and worthy ideas on the local scene has not only solidified the promises for a decent income, but rather dignifies the music industry as a whole in addition to their already existing packages."

In addition to his musical catalogue, Mukoroverwaa boasts of rich catalogue of dramas, that includes Barika (2014), Signature (2017) and Waka Shaya Mbereko (2019), among others.

His interest to diversify into love for art has seen  him working with various respected people such as award-winning music producer Ternforn Matsiwo (Rox).

The two are promoting Mukoroverwa's debut album, Usandisiya (2024), which carries songs like Ndokutenda and Help Me Lord.

Meanwhile, in a recent statement, Zimura, a membership driven institution, revealed its milestone achievement.

"Zimura, has entered into a partnership with ACRCloud, a leading global provider of music recognition technology to enhance the way music is tracked in Zimbabwe."

The technology allows Zimura the right to automatically identify songs played on radio, track play counts and monitor airplay durations in real time.

"The broadcasting monitoring service ensures that every song played is accounted for," Zimura said.

"This means more reliable and transparent royalty distribution for our composers, performers and publishers."

The partnership is supported by the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
