Thousands heed the ‘Call to Worship’ in night of praise and celebration

Takesure Zamar Ncube

Thousands of worshippers gathered at the Harare Gardens last Saturday night for theCall to Worship’s 16th anniversary event in the capital.

Themed ‘High and Lifted Up’, the annual Christian worship event drew a large crowd of believers in what those in attendance described as a “powerful night of praise and worship” led by the Call to Worship Choir, the Zaoga choir and the Apostolic Faith Mission  choir, among others.

Guest performances by renowned gospel singers Takesure Zamar Ncube and Pastor Josh Kays took the worship experience to a whole new level, with the crowd on its feet all the time.

During the event’s programme, some pastors and leaders took turns to pray, make declarations and consecrate the nation to God.

Reflecting on the event, Call to Worship organizer and co-founder Pastor Phillip Pike said he was blessed by the sight of thousands of Christians from different denominations and different walks of life coming together “for nothing else but to worship God together”.

“The body of Christ uniting in worship and lifting up the name of Jesus is something that gives me great joy,” Pike said.

“I give God all the glory for the turnout, the spirit-filled atmosphere and the incredible support we have received from pastors and leaders across many churches, and from the people that have come to worship tonight, and those that have done so over the last 16 years.”

He added that Call to Worship’s vision remained that of creating a platform to people from all walks of life to worship God.
