Victorious teen brings home two titles from India

MISS Teen of the Universe Zimbabwe, Victoria Ncube is proof that with the right support system, determination and focus, one may reach great heights in their respective career.

The teenager model recently travelled to India to compete for the world title of Miss Teen of The Universe.

Although she didn't manage to bag the coveted crown and sash, she emerged the brightest star from the motherland.

Victoria did not come home empty-handed but she got two titles, Miss Elegance and Miss Teen of The Universe Africa.

She spoke to the media briefly at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport on arrival from India and couldn't contain her excitement.

“I got these titles against 14 beautiful and confident ladies,” she said.

“It was tough because we were all competing to be number one. The boot camp was tough but I learnt so many lessons.

“One that stood out to me was the importance of embracing diversity and promoting inclusivity.

“By celebrating unique perspectives, backgrounds and experiences we can enrich communities and foster creativity. We can encourage innovation while breaking stereotypes.

“Bootcamp was really amazing and I enjoyed meeting all the girls and members of the organisations. The camp was stiff as everyone was putting on their A game, it became survival of the fittest.

“I did make a number of friends though and I believe our bond will continue even though we have gone back to our respective countries.

“Let me say a special mention to Miss T.O.T.U Uganda Jewel, Cassandra of Ghana, Indonesia’s Salsbilla and Anika of Germany.”

The 19-year-old beauty queen was received in India by Zimbabwe ambassador Stella Nkomo.

“I was welcomed by the ambassador Nkomo and ICT minister Tatenda Mavetera and I can’t express my gratitude enough,” she said.

“They supported me; they made sure I was safe and taken care of.”

Victoria said she had slight culture shock with the infrastructural development and the friendly citizens there.

She broke down and cried at the airport when she spotted her grandmother who had come with her friends and production team.
