Hard work paying off for Power Giants

As such, last Thursday Kachirekwa was honoured with the Excellent Strategic Business Leader award by the Zimbabwe Institute of Strategic Thinking.

Power Giants CEO Edzai Kachirekwa says hard work, perseverance and loving what you are doing are the secrets behind the success story of his energy company.

Kachirekwa, an electrical engineer, is the brains behind Power Giants, a local engineering firm that specialises in transmission power lines construction, solar systems including construction of solar grids, domestic, industrial, mining, agricultural and commercial installations.

Since the inception of Power Giants on the mainstream energy sector, the company has written its fairy tale winning accolades and making inroads on the regional energy sector arena.

Power Giants is also heavily involved in the global renewable energy sector with Kachirekwa sitting on a number of boards including being president of the Afroeuresia Energy Centre – an international organisation consisting of energy players from Africa, Europe and Asia.

As such, last Thursday Kachirekwa was honoured with the Excellent Strategic Business Leader award by the Zimbabwe Institute of Strategic Thinking.

Early this year the Zim Trailblazers Awards honoured the Power Energy boss with the Distinguished Clean Energy Champion in the country.

Kachirekwa attributes the accolades to hard work.

“Hard work is always the medicine to my triumphs, I always prepare myself for tougher challenges in every season,” he said.

“My sleeping mode is compared to that of a blue whale, I can sleep while half of my brain is functioning.

“The other secret is one has to be patriotic and be able to assist others.

“Remember a river will never drink its own water; knowing your purpose is your number one key drive to deliver any successful projects.”

Kachirekwa also credited the success of his company to the support he is getting from his wife, Evelyn Tinashe, who is Power Giants regional director.

Power Giants has also bagged the Best Innovative Electrical Engineering Company in Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering at the National Iconic Entrepreneurs Awards.

Away from the energy sector, Power Giants has partnered a number of organisations, including the government on a number of programmes, including around areas of gender-based violence as well as drug and substance use, among others.
